Backup & Recovery 

At LeSoft, we understand that data is a critical asset for our customers. To ensure business continuity and protect against data loss, we have implemented a robust backup and disaster recovery strategy that complies with UK data protection regulations. 

 

UK Regulatory Compliance 

Our backup and recovery practices adhere to: 

  • UK GDPR – Article 32 requires that organisations implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to ensure the ongoing confidentiality, integrity, availability, and resilience of processing systems and services. 
  • NCSC (National Cyber Security Centre) Guidance – We follow industry best practices recommended by the NCSC for secure data storage, backup frequency, and restoration testing. 

 

Backup Policy 

We follow a strict, automated backup schedule to ensure your data is always protected: 

  • Daily Backups: All critical customer data is backed up at least once every 24 hours. 
  • Multiple Redundant Copies: Backup copies are stored in geographically separated, secure data centres to ensure resilience. 
  • Versioning: We maintain multiple versions of data to protect against corruption or malicious alterations. 
  • Retention Policy: Backups are retained for a fixed period based on business and legal requirements. Older backups are securely deleted in compliance with data lifecycle policies. 

 

Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) 

In the event of a system failure or incident: 

  • Automated Failover systems are in place to maintain service continuity. 
  • Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) are clearly defined to restore services rapidly and minimise data loss. 
  • Regular DR Drills are conducted to ensure our team is prepared to respond efficiently and effectively during an actual incident. 

 

Access & Security Controls 

  • All backups are encrypted at rest using strong encryption algorithms. 
  • Access to backup files is restricted and monitored, with strict internal access controls in place. 
  • Backups are protected against unauthorised access, tampering, and deletion. 

 

User Data Recovery 

In case of accidental deletion or system failure, LeSoft provides the ability to recover lost data (based on backup availability and user permissions). If you require assistance with data recovery, please contact our support team. 

 

Testing and Monitoring 

  • Backups are tested regularly to validate integrity and restorability. 
  • Monitoring tools are in place to alert us to failed backup jobs or system anomalies.
